Combining a massive six heatpipe dual radiator design with an exquisite NF-P14/NF-P12 dual fan configuration, the NH-D14 is built for ultimate quiet cooling performance. Topped off with a tube of Noctua’s award-winning NT-H1 thermal compound as well as the new SecuFirm2™ multi-socket mounting system, the NH-D14 is an elite choice for the highest demands in premium quality quiet cooling.
6 heatpipe dual radiator design Providing more surface area, better heat-distribution and superior airflow efficiency than conventional tower style heatsinks, the NH-D14’s six heatpipe dual radiator design was developed to provide ultimate quiet cooling performance in dual fan mode.
Dual NF-P14/NF-P12 fan setup The NH-D14 sports a premium quality dual fan setup consisting of Noctua’s award-winning NF-P12 (120mm) and NF-P14 (140mm) fans, both of which feature Vortex-Control Notches, SCD technology and SSO-Bearings in order to achieve a perfect balance of performance and quietness.
Asymmetrical design for high compatibility An asymmetrical design that gives more clearance towards the RAM slots ensures good compatibility despite of the cooler’s size. The NF-P12 fan can be moved upwards or left off in order to further improve compatibility.
Excellent component cooling Hanging out at the bottom of the fin-stacks, the NF-P14 fan doesn’t only contribute to the NH-D14’s superb CPU cooling capabilities but also provides massive airflow over surrounding motherboard components and heatsinks, thus ensuring excellent component cooling performance.
SecuFirm2™ multi-socket mounting system Noctua’s enthusiast grade SecuFirm2™ multi-socket mounting provides broad socket compatibility (LGA1366, LGA1156, LGA775, AM2, AM2+ and AM3) and meets the highest demands in safety, contact pressure and ease-of-use.
NT-H1 thermal compound Noctua's much-acclaimed NT-H1 is a well proven pro-grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease-of-use and outstanding reliability.
I'm very pleased with the air cooling performance and it fits with my LGA1155 without any issues. One of my favorite pick for high end performance air cooling that runs nearly silent.

using 1 fan on the heatsink and still cools i7 core.
If you're thinking about getting anything less than a Kraken X60, then just get this. This thing performs almost exactly the same as a H100, only it's 5-10 decibels quieter. The only problem with it is that you have to make sure your case and ram are compatible in terms of spacing, but other than that it's the king of the castle. The only step up from this is either a Kraken X60, an Swiftech H220, or a full blown water cooling setup.

Works perfectly, keeps my CPU at pretty much room temperature when idle. The only thing preventing me from putting 5 stars is the lack of fans with pwm not included. For a premium heatsink, I would have expected it to come with pwm to control fan speed via motherboard so it pretty much runs maximum speed at all times. The fans are interchangeable though. The noise is still relatively low.

In summary it is a very good CPU cooler, even though it's quite bulky. Even if it fits in your case, you have to check to see if your RAM sticks are not too long.

Already had one which I gave away for my gf's comp. This is my second D14 I purchase and I am very happy with it. Packaging and quality is just impressive. It does fit into Corsair 200R which I got it for its compact size but you will have bit hard time taking the fans off when you uninstall. (I am getting CM HAF XB cause I am not impressed with 200R) Performance is almost on par with mid end water coolers and I am still going old school with this monster air cooler.

My Patriot Xtreme Masters just barely fits with this heatsink. It has like a 2mm clearance! Overclocking potential is GREAT! running 4.2 Ghz f 60 degrees load. Idle ranges from 20-30 degrees in a room temp of about 22. Make sure your ram is compatible before you buy this awesome cooler. The best air cooler on the market right now. comes with 6 years warranty too!! +++

My i5-750 at stock clocks idles in the mid 20s and hits 49 under full load. The heatsink was much quieter compared to the stock fan on load. The only downside to this heatsink is its sheer size. It sits over all 4 of my RAM slots so RAM with tall fins will not fit. It also blocked my first PCI-e slot so make sure your mobo has enough room/additional PCI-e slots (i am using an old gigabyte p55m-ud2 in a NZXT gamma case).

If you are looking for a big cooler which can deliver high cooling performance while maintaining an acceptable noise level, the Noctua NH-D14 is the cooler you are looking for.
Noctua's new NH-D14 is a huge cooler, both in physical size and performance. The build quality is excellent and the mounting solutions are very robust and easily installed. Potential users will also have to do their homework to be sure that this monster will fit on their mobo and in their chassi
The Noctua NH-D14 is costlier than the competition, but stick one in your machine and you won't be sorry. It's a quality item, it works extremely well, and it installs easily enough for those with a little experience.
As of right now, the Noctua NH-D14 is the best cooler we have reviewed to date performance wise. It beat out a couple of my favorites: Prolimatech Megahalems and the Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme. Each of which have been extreme performers. We can account for a lot of the performance comes in the area of
